My goodness! I guess those fierce linguistic skills are secretly math-related. Or something.

Yeah, well, up until junior year of high school or thereabouts I was all math; I thought I wanted to be a mathematician, and am still the bomb when it comes to the mental math.
And I could tell the questions were getting harder (self-correcting computer version)...but I still finished that damn thing an hour and forty-five minutes early.
Pardon the braggartry, but I've been out of the academic game for so long that it was sort of exhilarating.
